Lingerie photography and Smoke photography, combined for the first time, in my submission for the contest ‘l’Art du Style’ by Montreal shopping center Complexe les Ailes. Complexe les Ailes is a mall downtown Montreal on St-Catherine Street. When they organized the contest ‘L’art du Style’, I was immediately interested in participating. Artists were asked to submit creative and artistic projects, based on one of a list of 10 trendy products that are sold in different stores at the mall. The […]

My Smoke Art was featured on Talenthouse, with the great title “Up in Smoke – Stoffel De Roover’s mind-blowing Smoke Photography” Talenthouse posted this article/interview in their category ‘Success Story’. It talks about my Smoke Photography, the Creative Invite that we organised on Talenthouse, as well as some more general things. Here’s an excerpt of the article: “Some of the coolest work to come through Talenthouse is without a doubt by Stoffel de Roover, a self-taught photographer who has become a master […]
A large 6ft Smoke print of “S or Smoke” has been installed at The Revere. Previously a Radisson hotel, the Boston hotel has undergone massive renovations (with a 27 million dollar price tag) to turn it into an independant luxury hotel: “The Revere”.. luxurious and stylish! Many months ago I was approached by the art consultant for the hotel, and after some discussions the hotel agreed to purchase a copy of “S for Smoke”. If you’re in Boston, consider dropping […]
Smoke Photography is quite aleatoric. Many people will see completely different things in them, and I always find it very interesting to hear what others see. Even better, to see what others see in my smoke photography. So who better to show that, than fellow-artists? When Talenthouse announced they were opening up the site for some members to create their own creative invite, I jumped on the opportunity and contacted them with my idea to have artists show their interpretation […]
My Smoke Photography is looking divine again.. You may have already seen that Ganesha, the elephant-headed god showed up in one of my smoke pictures about 2 years ago. This time, another god may be seen in the smoke , with a ram or goat head, sitting down with folded knees and hands around the legs. While many gods were depicted with a ram-head, there are two in particular that I think of when looking at the picture: Ikenga, the […]
Earlier this summer I did a couple of maternity shoots, and it seems like my smoke wanted to follow suit.. In my latest smoke shoot, I captured this smoke trail, which could look like a pregnant woman. but maybe you see something else… some more new smoke photography coming soon: a god, a warrior creature, a heart and some more abstract variations..
It has been a couple of months again since my last post with new smoke photography. Here is some new smoke art from a recent shoot.. Shooting smoke with a 21Mpix camera is really wonderful as it will allow full frame pictures to be printed quite large, or on the other hand gives more cropping flexibility while still keeping reasonable resolution.. Have a look at this first picture.. on the left you can see the original smoke trail I captured, […]
I have updated my smoke photography gallery, and have also split it up in two: ‘smoke’ and ‘smoke and mirrors’. Images in the latter gallery are symmetric due to the mirroring of the original picture upon itself. All of the smoke images can be purchased and delivered to your address. Metallic paper works really well for the smoke pictures, but I can now also offer acrylic prints and canvas prints, or even on metal. Could be just the right gift for […]
